UW–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health

The website for the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health did not suitably reflect the school’s excellence.

Vendi created a new, state-of-the-art WordPress site that exhibited the school’s distinction AND made content administration easy.

World-renowned medical education leader selects Vendi for new custom or bespoke website

The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), the first school in the U.S. to combine medicine and public health, consistently ranks highly for its many programs, including its medical school.

SMPH’s flagship website (med.wisc.edu) did not properly reflect the school’s excellence. Further, the site’s content management system (CMS) was becoming increasingly difficult for SMPH staff to edit and maintain. SMPH leadership selected Vendi to move the school’s website and its related web properties from the Terminalfour CMS to the WordPress CMS, as WordPress would enable faster, easier website editing and maintenance.

SMPH chooses Vendi for its proven performance at UW–Madison

Vendi has extensive experience as a higher education marketing agency and is one of only three firms in the U.S. to hold a contract award with UW–Madison for all eight areas of marketing:

  • Brand strategy
  • Marketing research and insights
  • Marketing planning and execution
  • Digital marketing services
  • Inbound marketing
  • Web development
  • Video production
  • Photography

This contract — backed by Vendi’s history of garnering great results for UW–Madison — made the agency a logical choice for SMPH leadership.

Clear goals for a more informative, more engaging site

Vendi created an award-winning site that speaks to key target audiences, improves the user experience, differentiates SMPH from other medical schools, supports recruitment efforts, advances the school’s reputation in research and much more. Vendi also brought Algolia search functionality to the site, ensuring exceptionally fast, efficient and comprehensive website searches.

Vendi met an aggressive schedule without compromising functionality or design

In just one year, Vendi created a new WordPress website that allows SMPH to assume direct responsibility for site operations and maintenance. SMPH content can now stay up-to-date, SEO-optimized and in line with both school and website strategic objectives. Most importantly, SMPH’s website can offer an experience that earns trust, engages target audiences and drives interest in the school’s research, education and service missions.

Vendi’s partnership with SMPH inspired an additional trio of beautiful, easy-to-use, related websites

As the new SMPH site grew (and continues to grow) in popularity, SMPH returned to Vendi with requests to create new sites for related organizations:

The Native American Center for Health Professions (NACHP), a supportive, mentoring environment for Indigenous health professional students at UW–Madison

The Wisconsin Partnership Program (WPP), the grantmaking program within SMPH

The Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association (WMAA), which serves SMPH and its network of 8,000+ medical students and alumni. The WMAA site also includes a specially versioned news section to present the association’s quarterly stories.

Each related site uses SMPH’s new theme to clearly, concisely and easily convey organizational goals, services, achievements and more.
