A historical transformation
The La Crosse County Historical Society has begun a transformation with the opening of their new museum, named the La Crosse Area Heritage Center. The Heritage Center provides unique access and rigorous, research-based curation and interpretation of the artifacts and stories of all who came before.
A truly collaborative process, the staff and board committee gave the Vendi team a well-articulated vision and the creative space to bring that vision to life.
Brand identity
The name
La Crosse Area Heritage Center, was developed through discovery process including public input. The name accommodates a broader mission and the planned expansion as a regional center.
The tagline
“Stories that matter” captures the purpose of the La Crosse Area Heritage Center as heritage is best told and understood through the stories of all who came before.
The graphic components of the logo
The feather represents the wildlife of the area, including the eagle, which has a place of honor throughout our area’s known history, beginning with Indigenous nations.
The white pine symbolizes logging—a river-based industry that helped shape our growth.
The H, feather and white pine together suggest our heritage of lived, oral and written history that to this day, we seek, keep and share for all.
Brand positioning and visual elements including color palette, logo elements and graphic devices were foundational to the signage, wayfinding, exhibits and curator notes throughout the center.
